Commercial & Business Development Team

Our Commercial & Business Development team contributes to Moda's growth plan by securing access to new opportunities. Our goal is to create strong, long-term relationships, sustainable commitments and scalable programs. The team has a strong commercial orientation. Moda strives to be the terminaling and logistics provider of choice for our customers. With that objective in mind, we take a long-term, creative approach to structuring customer agreements that is rooted in fairness, honesty and transparency.

Jonathan Ellisor

Senior Vice President, Business Development & Strategy

Jonathan joined Moda’s business development team in 2017. He first started in the oil and petrochemical industry with Fina Oil & Chemical Co. in Dallas after graduating from college in 1994. In 1999, Jonathan began a career in trading that would span 17 years and cover products as diverse as asphalt, gasoline and petrochemical monomers.

Prior to joining Moda, Jonathan was last employed by Trafigura, where he started on the gasoline desk, blending in the U.S. Gulf Coast and trading cargos throughout the Americas.  In 2013, Trafigura offered him a role with subsidiary Puma Energy in Geneva, Switzerland, as Global Supply Manager and a member of the Executive Committee, where he managed a team based in Africa, Asia, Australia and Central America and participated in investment decisions around midstream and downstream business.

Jonathan grew up in the Houston area and then attended Harvard College, where he graduated with a degree in economics in 1994. He and his wife, Tanya, have three children. He enjoys spending time with his family, working at his cattle ranch, and playing guitar.

Ricardo Pietri

Senior Vice President, Commercial

Ricardo Pietri brings more than 13 years of experience in business development and commercial accounts management in the midstream space to Moda. He began his career in the oil and gas industry as an engineer at Oiltanking, but he quickly moved into a business development role at the company, working on several M&A projects and eventually moving to Mexico to pursue midstream business opportunities for Oiltanking. Ricardo also served as an International Controller for Oiltanking in Hamburg, Germany. He returned to Houston in 2007 to serve as Commercial Manager of Oiltanking North America, where he executed contracts for more than 10 million barrels of new crude oil capacity. As Commercial Manager, he also oversaw the development and execution of Oiltanking’s crude oil strategy, adding 13 million barrels of storage, and executing contracts for critical new pipelines and pipeline connections.

Ricardo obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida in 2001. He earned his MBA from the Jones School of Business at Rice University in 2010. Ricardo lives in Houston and has two children.

Bob Headlee

Vice President, Business Development

Bob brings more than 34 years of midstream and downstream experience to Moda Midstream with over 20 years specifically in midstream business development and account management with Shell Pipeline along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

He began his career in 1982 as a summer intern with Shell in operations while attending college in Ohio. The first portion of his career he focused on various operations roles and eventually moved into transportation scheduling and trading support. In 1991, Bob was transferred to Houston working various jobs in domestic pipeline, supply, trading and distribution groups, as well as working in scheduling of international cargoes. Bob had direct line oversight of Shell Pipeline assets in Canada and the U.S. Gulf Coast, where he spent the last 10 years of his career at Shell. Bob’s vast knowledge of the crude and clean product pipeline industry and midstream assets will further enhance the Moda commercial and business development efforts on new and existing projects.

Bob received a Bachelor's Degree in marketing from the University of Findlay in 1983. Bob and his wife, Tammie, have two children.

Jim Higgins

Vice President, Business Development

Jim Higgins has more than 30 years of experience and has worked on over 30 acquisitions and major capital projects in the pipeline, terminal and other midstream space. He joined Moda in 2016 as a Business Development Vice President focused on the Western U.S., Mexico and Canada. Previously, Jim was Senior Vice President for WesPac Energy responsible for all commercial activities. WesPac was an energy infrastructure development company backed by Oaktree Capital Management and primarily focused on small- to mid-scale LNG projects, refined products terminals and midstream M&A opportunities. Prior to WesPac, Jim founded TRC Solutions’ corporate development and transactional consulting practice advising energy companies in business strategy development, mergers, acquisitions and project development. Jim’s energy expertise stems from extensive experience with several energy companies, particularly as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for both Pacific Energy and Kinder Morgan, and various senior management roles responsible for sales, marketing and strategic planning with GATX Terminals. 

Jim holds a Bachelor of Sceience in finance and marketing from the University of California, Berkeley.
